"We Have No Treatment for You"

Imagine being 11 years old and living with a facial deformity that has made you feel different for as long as you can remember.

You have been relentlessly teased and made fun of by other children.

One day, your aunt takes you on a long bus ride to the largest children's hospital in Vietnam—a 2,000-bed tertiary referral center. You are filled with hope. Surely the doctors there can help.

After hours of travel and waiting, you sit in front of a team of specialists.

Then you hear the words no child should ever hear:

"We have no treatment for you. You will have to live with your facial deformity."

Despite her disappointment, she refused to give up.

The following year, she returned to the same hospital, hoping there would be new doctors and a different answer.

Instead, she heard the same words once again:

"We have no treatment for you."

For many children, that is where the story ends.

For this young girl, it was not.

Through an invitation from the NUOY Program to join their team in Vietnam, we had the privilege of evaluating and treating her using our regenerative surgery microcolumn fat injection method. Through this "no-knife," minimally invasive procedure, we were able to improve facial contour and symmetry and, most importantly, help restore confidence.  Without any visible scars.

But our mission goes far beyond treating individual patients.

Just one year earlier, the surgeons caring for this child had no effective treatment to offer. Today, those same highly experienced surgeons are learning the microcolumn method through our educational programs, specialized instrumentation, and hands-on surgical training.

The greatest impact is not the child we treat today.

It is the hundreds of children who will be treated tomorrow by the surgeons we teach.

That is how sustainable change happens.

One patient. One surgeon. One hospital. One country at a time.
